[Video] Walking + what kind of shoes should he wear?

Here is J taking some steps, though not his "first", just the "first on camera". As you can see, every time I whip the cameraphone to take a video, he comes walking, which means I can't ever get a long enough video!

My sister is always making fun of me because I kept saying that "he isn't walking yet" because he wasn't walking independently until a week ago. Well, now he's definitely walking! He also is definitely falling a lot too -- especially under Mom's watch. I may be testing/stretching his ability too much.

Speaking of walking, I'd like to know....

What kind of shoes should he be wearing as he's learning to walk? Any brand of "soft-soled" shoes you'd recommend?

Just for the record, when he's at home, he's barefoot (as demonstrated in the video). But since the kids go outside while at daycare, they have to wear shoes. Currently, he's wearing "normal" shoes, which may also be tripping him up. The soles aren't flexible and are kinda thick. Any recommendations you can give would be great!

[Video] Rocking out on the guitar

J is bouncing up a storm to the beats from the guitar. He also does this thing where he folds his hands and rotates his trunk back and forth. It's so cute and hilarious!

[Video] New play kitchen

This video maybe long kinda boring because J is just playing quietly...but he's doing it for 3 min which is like eternity in the toddler world!! The play kitchen was only $20 -- it's a bit wobbly and doesn't have any sounds or lights. Speaking of awesome play kitchens, check out what That'sSoHuang's husband did with an Ikea EFFEKTIV furniture and LED lights. Show-off, just kidding, love them!

Anyways, my husband's like, "Maybe we should buy a more expensive one that has sounds and lights since J likes this one so much...He could have two!" Let the spoiling begin...

[Video] Fun on Black Friday

We went to the mall on Friday around 9:30am, and thank goodness, it wasn't as crowded as I had feared. Believe me, I was SCARED/NERVOUS, etc. J just wanted to ride the elevator up and down, and up and down again.

What did you on Black Friday?

[Video] J says, "I may be sick, but I still love my fruit!"

I may be sick, but I still love my fruit!
Where's the rest of it?
Give me more, woman!

[Video] Using a spoon!

When the teachers at daycare said that J was getting good at feeding himself yogurt with a spoon, I really wanted to see it for myself. Unfortunately, it was weeks after this comment that J started doing it at home. First, with oatmeal...and then finally with yogurt! Enjoy!

[Video] Pushing truck around - part deux

For the best part of this video, skip to 1:20. You'll see how J brakes!

Halloween 2011

J was born in the Year of the Tiger (2010) but we didn't get him a costume last year because we were moving, things were hectic, and we didn't think he'd notice.

So this year, to redeem ourselves, we got a tiger costume from Zulily.com, a site with (relatively) discounted baby/kid items. We ordered it in 24-months size, but boy, it looked long. See how it compares with a onesie that fits J perfectly.

Boy were we surprised when we put it on J and it fit pretty good.

Check J out during the daycare's parade. That look on his face is his signature!

New video: practicing gross motor skills and problem-solving

J is learning to use his walking legs in this video. He's also learning to problem-solve by turning the truck himself. Notice how he reaches up his hand for help when he reaches the window. Unfortunately, mommy is wielding the camera and can't help. No problem, J does it all by himself!

New video: practicing fine motor skills

J is trying to spin coasters like daddy in this video. But he also displays his asking skills, clapping (finally at 14 months!), kissing (so cute!), and signing "all done" skills. Growing up so fast!

You'll want to learn to surf after watching these vids

These videos of a 2- and 3-year-old surfing with their respective parents makes me wanna take up surfing just so I can teach it to J and post an awesome video of it. Too bad I can't swim!

More kiwi, please!

His little mouth never stops moving!

I love this song!

Sorry for the clutter around him!

Drinking from a straw

I love how his mouth just keeps moving.

Reading to J

J can't sit through a reading of the alphabet without an interlude of some music.
Sorry for the baby-voice and Chinglish.

Crawling at 9-1/2 months

A month ago, J was "tripod"-ing and just rocking back and forth on the floor. Now, he's crawling! He likes to bump into walls and corners and crawl toward anything that is not a toy ;).

Chewing like a big boy

Why are the most mundane things that J does so entertaining? Hehe....J sprouted two bottom teeth about a week ago. They aren't fully grown but he sure is starting to utilize them!

Give it up for Jesus, yo

I originally saw this posted here - I know, a gossip-column like website. The description under the video read:

"This video comes courtesy of an honest-to-goodness Mom email forward: It's a middle-aged lady, Tamara Lowe, doing her trademark 'rap,' which is about cramming as many pop culture proper nouns into one singsongy poem as possible."

I thought the rap was about Jesus, not pop culture...

Happy Easter!

Beginning to crawl

One of J's favorite activities now is to sit on the floor in "tripod" position - that's both arms out front supporting his body like a tripod - and shifting his weight forward. He also bangs his hand on the floor too. He might be crawling soon. I can hardly imagine the chaos that will ensue once this curious, rambunctious little guy gets himself moving!
