No more ice cream?

Most of the time I enjoy "talking" with my 19-mo. Everything is just so cute because it's babble mixed with discernible phrases. Bababaaa aaaaa oh no. Bababaaa aaaaa all done. Bababaaa aaaaa no more. Bababaaa aaaaa hehe ekeke gggee.

Especially funny was a few weekends ago. I let J have some mint chocolate ice cream. Of course he loved it -- it's sugary. Well, when we got to the last spoonful, I said, "J, this is the last one okay? No more, okay?" He emphatically nodded his head and savored the last spoonful.

Boy, was I scared to take the plate away…

I took the plate away and stood firm to it being the "last spoonful".
He said, "No more?"
I said, "No more."
"All gone?"
"All gone."
"No more?"
"No more."
...
We did that about 15 times and then...he moved on. I sure am lucky for the situation to end like that! Sure won't push my luck though because it's certainly not all the time that "last one" is taken so well.

What conversations have you had with your kids, who may or may not be "speaking"?
