Over the weekend

This past weekend, A and I drove up to Boston for some seafood, sight-seeing, and Russell Peters :). Actually, we weren't planning to see Russell Peters until last Tuesday. We didn't want to sit in the nosebleed section at a Boston Red Sox game (I know, I would have been a trader!), so we researched other things to do. As I was browsing shows & concerts in Boston, I couldn't believe Russell Peters was doing his Green Card Tour in Boston and there were tickets still available! Below is me standing under the sign at Wilbur Theatre.

We sat in the front row on the first balcony level, so no head obstructions (yay!). Russell was hilarious! I wish he would have done more Asian jokes, but the one A guy in the front row near the stage didn't give him good material. Plus, most of the audience was Indian. Anyways, Alan & I would totally see him again!

Apparently Russell is celebrating 20 years on the comedy scene!

In other yummy news, we had an amazing seafood dinner at Atlantic Fish. Food and service was great. The tables were spaced very closely together though, and A politely asked if we could sit in a booth so I wouldn't be uncomfortable during dinner with my expanding belly (aw!!).

Do you see how A's dish pales in comparison to mine...hehe ;)

Week 25 - eggplant :O!

Whoops, skipped a Week 24 post! But now, I'm Week 25 and 4 days (roughly 6-1/2 months). This week, Baby Boy is 9.2" (size of an eggplant) and 2 lbs! It's crazy to think that I'll be carrying around a 7 lb baby in the next few months!

In other news, not only did the knob break off of our washer, it has completely stopped working. Great timing too (sarcasm) as we have a big pile of laundry to do!

Luckily, both Sears and Home Depot were having sales on Energy Star appliances. We decided on a GE top-loading washer.

We got 10% off at Home Depot with free delivery & haul-away of our old washer PLUS $100 rebate from PECO (pdf form). While we were out shopping, we also checked out refrigerators too, since ours was probably in this house since it was built in the 70s. Turns out, PECO will PAY $35 to recycle your old, working refrigerator! They have limited pick-up dates. So, if we got a new fridge, we'd have to time it just right so that our old one is taken away on the same day the new one is delivered. We like this black one from GE.

Cute cakes

Are these bite-size cupcakes, by Baked by Melissa, cute or what?! 50 of them for $37.50.

Water bottle with carbon filter

These bottles from Bobble have an activated carbon filter attached to the spout. It filters out chlorine, funny tastes, and odor. The filters of course need to be changed. They cost $7 to replace. So, would you pay the initial $10 for the bottle/filter set? I think this would be a good travel bottle, since filtered water isn't always available, and I still have problems drinking from the tap even though I know it's safe.

How am I carrying?

Every woman carries her child differently. Some high, some low, some round, some pointy. My belly looks kinda square in profile. It's funny to me...

Classes, classes, classes

Just signed up for 3 classes at the hospital where I'll be giving birth. One is a Labor & Birth class which consists of 4 sessions. The second one is Newborn Care which has 2 sessions. And the last one is Breastfeeding Basics which is 1 session. Let's just say it's going to be a busy May and June before the baby arrives...

Warmer weather + pregnant me = swollen

My feet and hands are swollen. I can't wear my rings anymore. If I sit for more than an hour at a time, I feel like I've just gotten off a 13-hour flight to Asia - my feet and calves are swollen. I'm not sure if the warmer weather caused this more noticeable swelling or if the swelling just happened to coincide with the warmer weather.

Random

Why would anyone pay $30 for a silly bucket that holds those single socks you always pull out of the dryer?

Week 23 - ear of corn

How, an ear of corn is pretty big! About 8.5" and 1.5 lbs! Crazy....

Some crazy things happening this past two weeks. Last Wednesday, I discovered a screw planted right into the rear passenger-side tire of our car. It even had a washer too! So imagine this stuck in the tire!

I imagine it got there from all the construction going on at the train station parking lot. They should do a better job of cleaning up. Every time I drove with the windows down, I hear the "clank clank clank" of the washer bouncing between the screw head and tire. Very strange.

Well, I drove on it for a few days. Didn't even notice a change in pressure or tire shape. But then Sunday, after church, "fuamp fuamp fuamp". Where'd the clank go? Uh-oh....I pulled over and lo and behold, completely flat. I thought I'd be able to make it to a gas station or Cosco or something so I drove a little further. But it just didn't feel right, so I pulled over again. I'm glad I stopped when I did, otherwise I'd be riding the rims.

Luckily, I stopped right in front of a house, and there were people inside (it was Easter, maybe everyone was out). Anyways, I left my cell phone at home (the one time!), so the nice people inside let me borrow their phone to call Alan (who had to work that morning).

Anyways, A comes out to meet me (I'm only 5 min from home), and we call a tow truck. And here is our car being rescued....

The car's still at the dealership. Guess we'll get our oil changed and car alarm checked out while it's there.

Random stuff around the net

From Re-Nest.com:

When I first saw solar-powered lamps at IKEA, I didn't think it was the greatest idea. If you didn't get enough sunlight on it, then you'd be in the dark after sunset! But then, I saw these ($20 at IKEA) on Re-Nest.com, and they're for the outdoors. Oh yea...duh! Great for the backyard, I think!

Dutch-made Taga is a carrier bicycle that converts into a stroller. Pretty cool! I could totally see people in bike-friendly Denmark sporting these around town. I wonder why I didn't when I was there two years ago...maybe because it's priced at $1495!
